| Summary, etc | La Ronde is one of Arthur Schnitzler's most controversial works. The historical-critical edition provides an introduction to its history, reconstructs the provenance of the manuscript, and presents a facsimile of the manuscript along with a transcription, a print text, and a commentary. The edition offers a new foundation for the study of the central text in Schnitzler's oeuvre. |

| Summary, etc | "Reigen" erscheint als elfter Band der historisch-kritischen Ausgabe von Arthur Schnitzlers Frühwerk. Als einer der bekanntesten Texte Schnitzlers, sicherlich aber als der umstrittenste, ist er ein zentraler Teil seines Œuvres.Bis dato fehlten eine detaillierte Aufbereitung der Textgenese, eine valide Transkription und ein nach wissenschaftlichen Kriterien erstellter Drucktext. Diese Lücken schließt die vorliegende Ausgabe. Das gesamte handschriftliche Material wird faksimiliert samt Transkription und in rekonstruierter genetischer Ordnung dargeboten. Der Drucktext basiert auf dem Privatdruck von 1900 und präsentiert in einem Variantenapparat die Druckgenese zu Schnitzlers Lebzeiten, ergänzt durch eine Darstellung der Druckgeschichte. Zudem liefert der Band einen Kommentar sowie weiteres Zusatzmaterial, etwa zur Provenienz des Manuskripts.Inhalt und Form von "Reigen" sorgten von Beginn an für eine kontroverse Rezeption, die auch das Erstarken reaktionärer, antisemitischer Gruppierungen im ersten Drittel des 20. Jahrhunderts zeigt. "Reigen" wurde breit rezipiert und vielfach adaptiert. Die historisch-kritische Ausgabe bietet eine wissenschaftlich fundierte Grundlage für weitere Arbeiten mit diesem wichtigen Text der Wiener Moderne. |
