520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc Energy Transitions delivers leading research that evaluates the policy, economic, and technical challenges and opportunities arising from initiatives to move toward more sustainable and less-carbon intensive power generation mixes. International and multidisciplinary in scope, the journal is fully Open Access thanks to the support of KACST and KAPSARC. The journal will include articles that address either of two major thematic areas: (1) Energy Economics and Energy Policy and (2) Electrical Energy Technologies. Thus, articles will focus on the policy and economic aspect of energy transitions as well as the technological aspects related to energy transitions. The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries are of particular interest, but lessons and experiences drawn from other countries are also welcome. Energy Economics and Energy Policy Topics in this theme will include (but are not be limited to): -  Economic, market, and system reforms -  Energy efficiency, conservation, and demand-side Management -  Policy Frameworks -  Renewable and nuclear energy Technologies -  Innovative policy support and funding/financing mechanisms for energy transitions -  Planning, social, behavioral, and environmental/climate challenges, benefits, and implications of energy transitions Electrical Energy Technologies Topics in this theme will include articles that include (but are not limited to): -  Distributed energy resources -  Smart grid applications -  Electrical power quality -  Wide area measurements, control, and protection -  Grid automation -  Enabling technologies, case studies/simulations/models, and implementation methods/challenges of technologies and applications linked directly to energy transitions -  Decision support systems for energy planning and operation Authors submitting to the Energy Technologies theme should not consider basic research or applications that are stand-alone. Rather, a clear connection to energy transitions should be identified and discussed. For all potential authors, please consider the insights and implications that are relevant for the MENA region in your submission.
