Die Entwicklungen dieser „Sattelzeit“ werden in diesem Buch aus einem besonderen Blickwinkel betrachtet, aus der Perspektive einer Peripherie, eines Alpentals. Im Fokus steht dabei eine Person: Michael Pfurtscheller. Am Gerüst seiner Biografie wird – auf einer Fülle von Quellen basierend – die Geschichte einer ländlichen Gesellschaft an der Schwelle zur Moderne montiert. Es ergeben sich Einblicke in die Lebenswelten Pfurtschellers und seines Umfeldes, die einerseits zeigen, wie die Zeitgenossen von der „großen Geschichte“ beeinflusst wurden, die andererseits jedoch auch verdeutlichen, welche Handlungsspielräume sich ihnen eröffneten und wie diese genutzt wurden. |
