| Summary, etc | Der Rekonstruktion symbolträchtiger, zerstörter Baudenkmäler und Ensembles wurde immer wieder eine wichtige Rolle für Nationsbildung und nationale Selbstbehauptung beigemessen. Dies gilt besonders für werdende, junge und im Umbruch befindliche Nationalstaaten. Die Inszenierung der Architektur vergangener Epochen dient hier der Stärkung des Nationalbewusstseins, oftmals auch der Legitimation staatlicher Souveränität und territorialer Ansprüche. Im Mittelpunkt des Bandes, der einen weiten Bogen vom 19. Jahrhundert bis in die unmittelbare Gegenwart schlägt, stehen die nationalpolitischen Motive von Rekonstruktionsprojekten in Mittel- und Osteuropa. Aus diesem Blickwinkel werden einige prominente Rekonstruktionen in ihren geschichtspolitischen Funktionen analysiert. Ein besonderes Augenmerk der hier zusammengeführten Fallstudien aus verschiedenen Ländern zwischen Ostsee, Adria und Schwarzem Meer liegt aber auf Projekten, die in Deutschland bisher kaum bekannt oder auch weitgehend vergessen sind. |
