An increasing number of health research organisations advocate public registration and result disclosure for all clinical studies. More and more biomedical journals, in line with publishing guidelines, will also ask for proof of public registration before they consider the submission of a manuscript regarding a clinical study. The ISRCTN Registry exists to help meet such objectives as increased research transparency, easy access to dissemination of results and reliability of evidence. It is a citable, freely accessible and continuously updated database of clinical research studies (whether proposed, ongoing or completed).
