| Summary, etc | In der zweiten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts erlangt die Gattung der Biographie im deutschen Sprachraum eine bis dahin beispiellose Popularität. Zeitgleich werden in Monographien und Denkschriften sowie in den programmatischen Vorreden der zeitgenössischen Biographiesammlungen erstmals die theoretischen Grundlagen biographischen Schreibens systematisch reflektiert. Tobias Heinrich beschreibt diese Debatte entlang fünf zentraler Themenfelder: Gedächtnis, Bild, Exempel, Kollektiv und Schrift. Gezeigt wird, wie in der individuellen Lebensbeschreibung ältere Konzepte der Erinnerungskultur und der erbaulichen Lektüre mit dem zeitgenössischen Begehren von Physiognomie und Psychologie nach der Lesbarkeit des Menschen verschmelzen, um damit die hermeneutische Biographik der Moderne hervorzubringen. |
